1. One thing I did that I am proud of:
One thing I did that I am proud of is that I was able to figure out industry standard programs such Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. For AP 2D, I knew that I wanted to branch out more because for digital pieces in AP Drawing, I mainly used Procreate for drawing. However, I was always interested in the functionality of the professional programs and knew that it would elevate my skills and work
2. An artwork I really liked by classmate:
I really liked Lydia’s artwork about her anxiety meds. The background with the medicine labels was very cleverly implemented into the piece, and it made me curious on how she got the writing to be so realistic to the doctor's handwriting. I wonder if it was photobashing, or if she actually drew out the labels.
3. Biggest Learning moment:
My biggest learning moment was when I first tackled Adobe Photoshop. Procreate has such a simple UI that it’s easy to navigate as it’s rather clean and minimalistic. However, Adobe Photoshop’s UI overwhelmed me at first as there were so many controls and tools on the screen. On top of that, there were many keyboard controls to learn. I wasn’t used to how cluttered it looked at first to me and it was difficult to figure out how to use the program and make it do what I wanted it to do.
4. One thing I will change up for semester 2:
I want to spend more time on my pieces and be even more ambitious. This semester, I felt overwhelmed with college applications, extracurriculars, and classes that I didn’t put as much time into the portfolio as I wanted to do. Next semester, I want to push myself to do even more. I want to try screenprinting and more mediums for 2D. I enjoyed tackling Photoshop and Illustrator, and I’m looking forward to tackling more mediums as second semester rolls by.
