  1. What is your intention for the piece? How does it fit in your SI?

My intention for this piece is to illustrate how children tend to mimic behavior they see on the internet through mitosis. Mitosis is the process where a cell will split into two identical daughter cells. I decided to use mitosis because I thought of it like a beahvior of the internet giving birth to those that will mimic it. It fits into my SI because it's exploring an effect of how the internet shapes children and affects development.

I'm sketching out the mitosis stage I want to illustrate - anaphase. Anaphase is where the chromatids will split from each other to opposite poles. There are spindles in the middle that form when the chromatids are stretched apart.

Trying out acrylic markers. I wanted to sketch out the thumbnail of the piece which will be two daughter cells personified and they are in an internet textbox. In the background are numerous tabs. I want to express the chaotic and messy splitting of the two daughter cells.

Some more practice with acrylic markers since I plan to use them in this piece. It was hard to get used to blending the colors, but I like the opaqueness and the texture that the markers give.
