What idea is guiding this work?

The idea that is guiding this work is the idea of oversharing on the internet. Younger people tend to overshare their thoughts, feelings, and experiences on the internet that culminates in emotional dependence on the internet to take care of their mental health. However, doing this attracts a lot of unwanted comments from strangers who have no idea who you are, and may end up taking advantage of you due to vulnerability. This leads to the person becoming unstructured - letting their heart out as shown by the piece but internet wires and motherboard pieces are coming out of the person's chest to show deterioration of the structure. The importance of the internet wires and motherboard pieces are to show resemblance to a computer and how the person has become so consumed by the internet that it has dictated their emotional experience.

How are you practicing, experimenting or revising aspects of this work? (you can pick one)

I decided to revise the perspective of this work. In my previous portfolio, I did not have much experimentation with perspectives and mainly worked in a 3/4 or frontal view. However because this is my second portfolio, I want to push myself further. For this piece, I decided to change the perspective from a bit frontal to a more downwards one where the person is looking downwards at their chest - spilling out internet wires and motherboard pieces, and places more emphasis on the contents that are coming out. I decided to focus on this idea rather than have the cracked puppet mask spill out with internet wires as well in order to create a more cohesive and strong central idea.

How can your choices of materials or processes relate to your idea?

I am still a bit undecided on materials, but I want to definitely incorporate digital to push forward the digital interface. In combination with this, I want to maybe incorporate a photographic element (photograph of the heart) or collage the contents spilling out of the chest. This is in order to create a contrast between the all too smooth and fake looking rendering of the person, with the heavy actuality of what's inside of them.
