“How can I demonstrate the effects of unrestricted internet access at an early age through references to technology and media?”

Infusing computer bits, internet wiring, and design aesthetics, I symbolize the wide range of experiences - positive or negative - that come with being exposed to the internet. These include oversharing to strangers, being groomed, self discovery, and more! In order to emphasize the widespread access and influence the internet has, I experimented with a variety of materials and softwares to push the boundaries of how far I can create art. These include vectorwork in Illustrator, or the creation of fake mold with polyester filler balls.

4 Potential Ideas:

  • Explore the herd mentality cultivated from popular creators, and how it leads to echo chambers of speech

  • How certain slang and figures of speech become popularized on the internet and makes its way into daily life

  • The experience of being a "Lolcow" - people who are bullied and ridiculed on the internet. Children are especially vulnerable to this because they make questionable decisions

  • Children idolizing people on the internet and becoming easily influenced to harmful thoughts and ways of thinking.

I love the way you presented your SI over this idea of having different hats on top of the character. Are you going to use different colors/textures for the hats to differentiate them? From your previous SI, you used lots of colors and most of them are pretty vibrant, so I was just wondering if you've thought about using maybe darker colors or less colorful palettes like you did in your SI #7? I feel like the character with only the blue/purple color palette is very interesting. For future SI topics, I would suggest maybe work on the "positive" side of internet exposure to children? Since all your SI seemed leanding more towards the negative impact.

I like the idea your going for with your SI #8. I reccommend possibly adding more color variation when it comes to rough shadows and lighting if that interests you. Instead of it all being just one shade of color. I reccommend possibly exploring how people explore the internet and find new interests. As well as how too much internet access can effect ones mental health in both good and or bad ways.

you should give them a propeller hat. i like those hats

for the spreading of slang you could do like a telephone or food chain. that'd be cool. and for the echo chamber, you should do like a crystal cave with a reflection in like a shattered mirror type thing. have slight variations like it's an echo

i like the way the little girl has a multi-layer hat on it, im curious how you will demonstrate the hat, will it be different colors and texture? I think for the last 4 projects, maybe you can try to explore with more materials instead only doing it on procreate. for the children idolizing people one, maybe you could demonstrate a transition from a personality to another.
